Movie Review: Alice in the Wonderland 2010

Now 19 year old, Alice Kingsley is on her engagement party. There is only one small missing detail; she does not know that it is her engagement party. Hamish, a son of a Lord and Lady, will propose to her under the garden gazebo, but somehow Alice is more interested in chasing a rabbit with clock and falls to the same hole she fell into 10 years ago to Underland. From this, she starts to re-experience her journey in Wonderland, the name of the land in her mind, all over again. Only this time, she has to fulfill the prophecy to kill the mighty evil Jabberswocky to end the reign of Red Queen.

Underland (or Wonderland) is portrayed just like Tim Burton portrays imaginary lands in his movies. The characters are played and dubbed by great actors like Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Anne Hathaway, and Crispin Glover. Even though Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter is the most eccentric and wacky character in this film, just like all Depp’s characters always are, it is without a doubt that Helena Bonham Carter steals the show. Her Red Queen with the infamous “Off with the head!” screaming is the one which keeps the story going.

The visual is undeniably marvelous. With the newest CGI technology and the hot 3D imagery, Alice in Wonderland is no less amazing compared to Avatar. And if you are a die heart fan of Johnny Depp, you are better not to miss this film if you want to see Mad Hatter dances Futterwacken, a famous dance of Underland.
